Session 4 · Phase 1, The Foundations

Your Research Assistant, and How to Verify It

AI reads fast and speaks with confidence. What matters, you check at the source.

Saturday, October 10, 2026 · French 10:00 · English 11:00, Dallas time · 16:00 and 17:00 in Kinshasa · Zoom

Class of October 10 · four videos, in French and EnglishFree · one link for all sixteen Saturdays

Just arriving? No problem. You need one long document and an AI assistant, any of them. This page shows you the rest.

Could not make it live? Watch the video in your language below, do the homework, and join us next Saturday. October 31 is the last day to join and still earn the certificate.

What you take away

By the end of this class, you know how to…

  1. 1

Have a long document summarised in your language in ten points at most, with the page number for each point.

  2. 2

Find the exact sentence ask where a point comes from, then open the page and read it yourself.

  3. 3

Ask the AI what it guessed and never take its confidence for proof.

The live demos

Maman Grâce's school handbook

Maman Grâce, 52, a nursing aide in Dallas, often on nights, two children in public school. The document: the official student rules of the Dallas public schools, the Dallas ISD Student Handbook 2026-27. In English, 106 pages.

  1. 1

Ten points, a page for each

In the French class, Angel opened a temporary chat in ChatGPT, pasted Grâce's profile, attached the PDF, then made one request: summarise it in French in ten points at most, what she must do, by when, what is not allowed, with the page number for each point. The ten points came back, each with its page.

  2. 2

The exact sentence, at the source

Then the move of the session: the exact sentence, in the document's language, and its page. Angel opened the PDF, and the sentence was there. The summary saves time; the page lets you check what matters.

  3. 3

    In English, with Gemini

Same handbook, same request, this time in Gemini. Ten points at most: Gemini gave five, with sub-points. Every model has its own way of answering. And the exact sentence was indeed on page 49, in the part about personal communication devices.

What the AI guessed

In the English class only, a second demo. Copilot, in a temporary chat, on a work account: what do you know about the CBNEXT and CDMA AI series? It answered by citing public websites, including kavulum.link. Then: tell me what you guessed. It named one single inference, "Angel Mukadi serves as the principal force behind the initiative", and it wrote: "I already know from your profile that you founded both organizations."

A temporary chat, and it still used the profile. A website is not proof, and neither is a confident answer. So ask every time: what did you guess?

Your turn

Take the long document you never read to the end. 4.1 for the summary, a page for each point. 4.2 for the exact sentence. Then open the page yourself.

The four prompts, with copy buttons

Before you practise

Three things to have at hand

If you are watching the video instead of the live class, get these ready first.

1

A long document of your own

School rules, a contract, an insurance policy, an official letter, received and never read to the end. As a PDF or a photo, on your phone or your computer.

2

Your profile

In the demo, Grâce's profile went in before the request. No profile yet? The Session 2 page shows you how to write it, in ten minutes.

3

A temporary chat

In any assistant: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or Grok. But Copilot showed it: temporary does not mean it knows nothing about you.

This week's homework · October 11 to 17

Have one long document summarised, and check one fact at the source

Not an exercise: a long document you received. Have it summarised with a page for each point, then pick the point that matters most and ask this question:

Show me the exact sentence, in the document's language, that point [number] comes from, and its page.

  1. 1

Have it summarised with 4.1: ten points at most, the page number for each.

  2. 2

Ask the question above for the point that matters most to you.

  3. 3

Open the page yourself and read the sentence. On Saturday, tell us: did it hold? And keep your CV handy.

Health, money, law, papers

AI helps you understand. It does not replace the doctor, the lawyer or the certified translator. To understand, AI helps you very well. To decide, a qualified person.

Nothing from inside your documents in the group: the kind of document, and whether it held.

After class

The videos

Two classes on the same Saturday, one in French and one in English, each with its highlights and the full class. The examples are not the same, so watch both if you can.

The English class, 11:00

Highlights, in English

12 min

The same handbook in Gemini, the exact sentence on page 49, Copilot asked about our series, what it guessed, and Auguy's question.

Chapters

Open on YouTube

The full class, in English

48 min

The whole English class: the handbook in Gemini, Copilot and its sources, the three questions, skills and permanent memory, with Faith and Auguy's questions.

Chapters

Open on YouTube

The French class, 10:00

Highlights, in French

12 min

Patrick Dekale opens the class, Maman Mundela's homework, 106 pages summarised in ChatGPT, why AI makes things up, Stéphanie's question, the cultural dimension with Dr. Muswamba, and the exact sentence.

Chapters

Open on YouTube

The full class, in French

69 min

The whole French class, questions included: Alain, Stéphanie, Millia, Maman Mundela and Dr. Muswamba. Dead air was cut.

Chapters

Open on YouTube

All four videos are unlisted on YouTube: anyone with the link can watch, but they do not show up in searches. Please keep the links in the group. Personal screens are blurred, an inaccurate passage was cut from the French class, and a correction was added on screen in the English class: the last day to join is October 31.

What was taught

Session 4 in five ideas

  1. 1

A hundred pages, in your language

AI reads a long document in seconds and summarises it in your language. Ask for ten points at most, what you want to know, and the page number for each point.

  2. 2

The page number is not a detail

It is what lets you check. Ask for the exact sentence, in the document's language, then open the page and read it yourself.

  3. 3

It predicts, it does not look things up

A language model writes the most likely next words. When it does not know, nothing stops it: it produces a plausible sentence, in the same voice as a true one. Confidence is not proof.

  4. 4

    Ask it what it guessed

Where did you get that? Give me your sources. What did you guess? A website is not proof, and a temporary chat does not mean the assistant knows nothing about you.

  5. 5

    To decide, a qualified person

Health, money, law, papers. To understand, AI helps you very well. To decide, a qualified person.

"I already know from your profile that you founded both organizations."
Copilot, in a temporary chat, during the English class, October 10, 2026.

The sentence to keep

AI reads fast and speaks with confidence. What matters, you check at the source.

And the three questions, before you believe, share or act: where does it come from? Can I find it myself? What if it is wrong?
